Currently, people are no longer satisfied with simple text、pictures、voice and other traditional businesses, need more widely for multi-service converged multimedia businesses, the extensive use of the Internet making IP become the main bearer of multimedia services. Meanwhile, the optical fiber communication system become terrestrial trunk transmission system, the transmission rate is high,and its accompanying SDH system has become the standard of terrestrial communications network transmission. With the development of technology, communication satellites towards large-scale、multimedia development,broadband transmission and onboard IP switching is an important development direction of satellite communications.This paper introduces the development status of spaceborne IP over SDH, analyzing the composition and the multiplex way of the ground SDH frame, selecting the way by multiplexing the VC4 container into STM-1 frame, giving the composition of the network protocol stack onboard IP over SDH and the way into the container VC4 by LAPS protocol, and achieving IP data mapping in SDH frame.At the same time, completing spaceborne IP switching module with ground test equipment according to the requirements of the design, the equipment bases on Xilinx FPGA chip, using its built-in hard-core GTX to achieve 622Mbps and 2.5Gbps data rate for SDH frame transmission,designing high-speed data rate interface processing module、data management module、data processing module、the error checking module and so on to realize the data processing, on the data processing module, realizing Spaceborne IP over SDH data processing by SDH multiplexing and demultiplexing module、 IP data to VC4 container by mapping and demapping、pointer processing for adaptation of IP data to the SDH frame.The paper presents the design、simulation and test results of the related modules, system testing indicates that the design implements IP over SDH data processing,and it can test the onboard IP switching module.
