Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is an integrated information management system of modern enterprises. With the rapid development of the enterprise, different versions of ERP products (e. g., SAP R/3, SAP ECC) from the same vendor or ERP products from different vendors (e. g., Oracle, SAP) can be deployed at different time. Generally, those companies would have to implement many customized business requirements to meet their specific business processes. However, with the development of enterprises, the cost of development and maintenance of the ERP system will increase. Then, the enterprise usually implemented a new ERP system, integrating the system functions. The progress, however, is very complex and time consuming. There are huge amounts of legacy data need to be migrated. Moreover, the previous customized enhancements on the legacy systems will increase the complexity of the whole process as well.Existing ERP systems generally includes three tiers:the database layer, the application layer and the presentation layer. If the original ERP system, especially the database layer, can be migrated to a unified cloud platform, problem in subsequent upgrade process can be largely solved. Online data migration and virtualization technologies can be used in the cloud platform. However, there are a number of technical challenges during the implementation of the cloud platform. This work focuses on solving such problems. Our major contribution includes:1. In Chapter Four, we consider the ERP system migration strategy. We propose a method to find proper migration strategy based on a modified simulated annealing algorithm. As parts of the modules of the original ERP system will be migrated to the cloud, new network communication overhead will be introduced between the migrated modules and the un-migrated modules. We propose models to analyze the revenue and expenses for different migration strategies and will help to choose the best one 2. In Chapter Five, we consider the reconstruction of business logics in the cloud platform. We propose a method based on configuration engine. This method integrates the business logics from the original ERP system, makes limited changes on the original system and is easy to be implemented. This will improve the flexibility of the business logics.Above models and methods are verified to be effective by case studies.
