A traffic light detection and recognition algorithm is introduced in this paper. There are two passes in the algorithm. Firstly, the traffic lights are detected by morphology transformation. Then, the support vector machine trains and predicts the type of traffic lights. This algorithm is used in real Intelligent Traffic Monitoring System. We have obtained good performance and high accuracy in long-term online testing.
