In order to support huge user groups in massively multiplayer online game, a key challenge is load balancing technology. For commercial games, user experience is paramount. This article does not seek the optimal allocation of system resources, but priority to ensure the smoothness of customers’ experience. For this purpose, we propose a load prevention approach oriented load balancing.ln traditional load balancing methods, the time of adjusting system resources is all at server overloaded, and as a result, the generation of hotspots results in the expansion of the range of adjusting system resources, which seriously disturbs the system performance and reduces the smoothness of user experience. In the proposed prediction method, we allocate sufficient system resources to the potential area at small cost of performance penalty, in the early stage of formation of hotspots, which can effectivelyprevent the formation of overload. In addition, this paper also presents server backup pool design. This design can not only reduce the impact range of load adjustment, but also fastly allocate sufficient system resources to cope with the hotspots zone, which can ensure a smooth user experience to the greatest extent possible.Meanwhile, the server backup pool design can also simplify system deployment. When system needs to be extended, we only need to simply register/unregister hardware resources from server backup pool, without stopping the running server. The design of massively multiplayer online game distributed system will encounter some challenges, for which this paper has designed a unique micro-cell migration mechanism, as well as the design of data consistency. Finally the validity of the approach is proven by our experiments.
