With the recent rapid development of its economy, China's financial industry has entered the era of informationization and globalization, which is bringing forth the severe competition in this industry. Agricultural Bank of China (ABC), one of the largest financial institutions of China, is confronting the competition from both domestic and foreign rivals as well. In this commercial environment, ABC needs rapid response for its survival and further development. OLAP, newly invented for construction of enterprise informationization, is a technique that supports efficient analysis of multi-dimensional shared information. Based on enterprise metadata, it enables users to observe data from different dimensions via operations such as slicing, dicing, drilling and pivoting on multi-dimensional data. By applying OLAP to the ABC statistical system, it will bring not only reduction of maintenance cost for enterprises, but also technical support for enterprises making precise and timely decisions.First of all, the current situation and problems of the ABC statistical work were discussed, and then, they confirmed the necessity of building OLAP-based statistical system. Secondly, the main functions of ABC statistical system were discussed and the core process such as data collection, data processing and report revelation were analyzed. Thirdly, the structure of the system was analyzed, then how to implement the sub-systems for data collection, transaction processing and report management with the tapestry+hibernate+spring architecture was discussed. Next, how users calculate the variation of business indicator under different time as well as how to calculate the year-on-year and link relative variations by using OLAP tool was emphatically discussed. Finally, the investment efficiency of ABC statistical system was analyzed.
