Embedded Database Application In The Tobacco Retail Terminal

Aiming at the limited resources (such as the cache size), the famous embedded database system, Berkeley DB, finds its wild range of application in the construction of the embedded database system of industrial strength level. Berkeley DB is able to manage a vast sum of data up to 256 TB with a library of only several hundreds Kbytes' code and with the reaction speed in millisecond level. The research and application of Berkeley DB appears recently in China with the rapid developpement in the field of embedded database.This paper deeply studied system structure, implementing process and data structure of Berkeley DB. On this basis, combining with the practical application of tobacco trade, this paper introduces the system structure of the retail terminals to collect and management,and makes the software requirements analysis, design for the data acquisition device-retail information terminals, and finishes the major function by the Berkeley DB application.
