The past years, the development of "Digital Ocean"technology included in the "Tenth Five" program, and planning a national marine scientific and technological development plans.At present, an urgent problem is how to research and development of theoretical ideas,the technical route and method of collection.There are vortices in the ocean everywhere,disturbing the stability of ocean.They can make serious damages to marine organisms and fishing,also,it can make great impact to ocean shipping.So,it is of great significance and scientific value to research the feature of ocean flow field such as vortices.This paper address the extraction and tracking of the vortex in ocean information visualization,as follows:(1) We will be visual modeling for middle and large size sample data sets.For such a large and complex flow field scattered data,through the visual modeling approach into grid data of regular.This will extract several groups from the marine survey data and apply the MQS method to select data for data modeling.(2) A vortex extraction algorithm based on Cross method.Selecting the south china sea of multi-vortex structure for the research or experimental area,to mesoscale vortex in the planar flow field as the research object,to the Cross method as the starting point.This article will examine the new vortex extraction algorithm,what directly from the flow of data and grid data to detect and calculat the number and center location of mesoscale vortex, extracting information and output information table.(3) A vortex tracking algorithm based on the feature flow field. Selecting the vortex core for vortex tracking's the target, from what Theisel proposed the concept of feature flow field to start,on the critical point and the vortex core line to precision track as the starting point,to study the corresponding vortex core tracing algorithm.Used the flow line integral's method to track.Integral curve is calculated using fourth-order Runge-Kutta to achieve visualization of tracking vortex core.
