With the rapid development of the Digital TV and IPTV, the security problems such as right protections, play control and piracy tracking are attracting more and more people's attention, the traditional cryptography can't protect the safe of Digital TV and IPTV any more, while the video watermark technology, attracting more and more attention in academic research and practical application, provide a new solution, has a rosy prospect. Based on the problems of copyright protection, play control and piracy tracking, and the urgent needs of Northwest University-Irdeto Information Security Joint Laboratory, the main work of this paper are as follows:(1)Design and implement the simple Digital TV transmission simulation platform with MATLAB and VC++,the platform include two parts, the server and client, which are connected by the Internet, the server can realize the functions of watermark embedding,MPEG-2 compression, when the client request, the server transfer the video to the client, the client can play the video and extract watermark, the platform can combine the watermark algorithm with the application of Digital TV and IPTV, which has a good flexibility.(2)Facing to the safety problems of Digital TV and IPTV, a new video watermark algorithm is proposed which is based on the block-mean, the original video complete pretreatment, according to random sequence and encryption keys, the watermark embed to the block-mean of the frames, then, extract the watermark based on the random sequence, the algorithm embed the watermark in space domain, can extract in the space domain or compressed domain flexibly, so can be used for play control and piracy tracking. Simulation result show that the proposed algorithm is implicit and has high hidden data capacity, is robust against MPEG-2 compression, add noise, frames delete, frames average and frames exchange attacks.
