With the higer and higer demand of convenience and promptness of the medical system andhospital network wireless transmission gradually becoming the maintream,to making thecollection, archiving and communication of the medical data and images such as CT, MRIbecome wireless has aroused enthusiasm in recent years.The thesis detailed the current research status of PACS at home and abroad, its compositionand function, analyzed advantages and disadvantages of its two modes: C/S and B/S, designedPACS system structures based on the wlan and elaborated such key problems as itscommunication speed, security and anti-interference. On the basis of this structure and keytechniques, the wireless communication of PACS has been basically realized.Because Medical image data transmited by PACS are very large, In order to improve thetransmission speed and playback efficiency, they must be compressed during its storage andcommunication.Therefore, it is necessary to do some research on medical image compressionalgorithm.The theis analysis and compare PSO withQPSO algorithm.At the same time , Theimproved PSO is applied to solve the problem in vector quantization codebook design instead ofPSO. On the basis of above all, we have studied out a vector quantization algorithm based onsimplified particle swarm optimization With extreme disturbance. The simulation results showthat the new algorithm has better convergence and image compression performance.
