Li Ciming, also known as Aibo or Chunke, was a great scholar during the reign of Emperor Tongzhi and Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty. Yuemantang Reading Notes was compiled by Mr.You Yunlong on the basis of Yuemantang Diary. Li Ciming was born original, and nearly no one could be comparable to him during his time. Although there were some harsh words in his works, the flaws do not detract from the jade's essential beauty. Considering the above-mentioned situations, it is necessary to pay attention to the academic value of Yuemantang Reading Notes.The present author studied Yuemantang Reading Notes in the perspective of philology from the angles of version and emendation. On the one hand, the value of Li Ciming's works was appreciated; on the other hand, the defects were recognized, In the first chapter, the basic information about Li Ciming and the related research status were introduced. In Chapter two, Yuemantang Reading Notes was analyzed from the perspective of version, its value was judged from this angle as well. For example, Yuemantang Reading Notes explained the historical relationships among different versions of ancient books, fixed the shortage in other works and consummated the version information; meanwhile, the author compared the advantages and drawbacks among different versions. At the same time, there were some careless omissions in Yuemantang Reading Notes, therefore they were rectified in this thesis. Chapter three saw an analysis towards Yuemantang Reading Notes from the view of emendation, and the author discussed its accomplishments in historical notes and emendation. Last but not least, in Chapter four the author covered the shortage of Yuemantang Reading Notes through case study.
