In recent years, fiber optical sensor has been widely used in industrial and military fields including energy, structure monitoring, aerospace etc. As a representative of fiber optical sensors, fiber Bragg grating is becoming the development trend of next-generation sensors, with many advantages, such as simple structure, small size, EMI immunity, high sensitivity, multiplexing capabilities, good stability and so on. With implementation of the internet of things development strategy in China, the field of optical fiber sensor research and industrialization is facing great opportunities and challenges.Demodulation of fiber Bragg grating sensor is a difficulty of the sensing system, many research institutes and companies have undertaken extensive research on the demodulation method, and some of the achievements have made. However, the existing fiber Bragg grating demodulators are very expensive, which are not widely used in practice. In order to achieve cost-effective fiber Bragg grating demodulator, improving and perfecting the existing demodulation method is critical, which is very helpful for meeting the requirements of the practical industrial mass productions. Based on this starting point, this paper completes a series of work, summarized as follows:(1) Referencing a large number of documents , this paper analyzed the characteristics and development trends of optical fiber sensing technology. Meanwhile, made the analysis of fiber Bragg grating sensing principle and compared various demodulation methods, then summed their advantages and disadvantages.(2) The optical fiber Bragg grating demodulation system based on scanning laser was presented. Carried out a detailed analysis and testing of the optical and electronic devices and built a hardware system.(3) Designed a complete fiber Bragg grating demodulation system, tested the performance parameters of each module.(4) Proposed the demodulation algorithm used in the program, then realized it in the NI LabVIEW programming environment and programmed a friendly user interface.(5) Based on the results of experiments, summarized the dissertation and anticipated the future research works.
