Wireless MAN (WMAN) technology refers to a wireless communication technology that the network coverage is larger than wireless LAN, The introduction of wireless MAN is in order to meet the growing broadband wireless access (BWA) market demand.In order to compensate the outdoor application disadvantages of WLAN, IEEE decided to develop a new and more complicated global standard,this standard should be able to resolve the physical layer environment (outdoor RF transmission) and the issue of the Qos.This standardized organization is the IEEE 802.16.Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing technology is the research hotspot of today's high-speed wireless communication field, it is generally considered as the core technology of fourth generation mobile communication system,because of its good anti-multipath interference capability and high spectrum efficiency,also is the IEEE 802.16 physical layer modulation technique.In this paper, we analysis the principle and the realization method of this technology,we also studied the synchronization technology of the OFDM in detail,and analysised how different synchronization errors affect the performance of the system. Then simulated the frequency synchronization algorithm based on the cyclic prefix,the frequency synchronization algorithm based on training symbols frequency-domain correlation,the frequency synchronization algorithm based on training symbols time-domain correlation and a variety of timing synchronization algorithm.In order to study the synchronization program of the WirelessMAN-OFDM, we research the mobile wireless channel in-depth. First, we analyzed the wireless channel fading, then studied the statistical model of the various wireless channel. Finally simulated the wireless channel, made groundwork of the research work behind this paper.This paper analyzed three physical layer standards proposed by IEEE802.16a, WirelessMAN-OFDM are the focus of agreement,analysis the frame structure and synchronization mechanisms. At last,we combined the characteristics of wireless channel on the basis of the analysis of IEEE802.16a synchronization Mechanism,we improved the IEEE802.16a synchronization Mechanism, and simulated the improved algorithm in different channel types. Finally improved the accuracy of the estimation.
