With the rapid development of market economy, social, cultural and educational development is not balanced, and the uneven distribution of educational resources. Now, China's primary and secondary education resources has the gap between urban and rural areas in East and West areas. To solve the education problem uneven development, since the fall of 2007 in China, Ministry of Education has implemented state-financed education project for normal university students in six ministry-owned normal universities.This policy aims to lay a solid foundation in fostering plenty of excellent primary school and high school teachers.The purpose of the national policy is to promote a social atmosphere of respecting teachers and train large numbers of excellent teachers, encourage more normal students to be as educators for longterm and all the life.This study focus on the characteristics of free normal student' vocational interest,which is a new group in China.Vocational interest plays an important role in occupation selection, as a important influencing factor of occupation selection.Currently, However,the characteristics of free normal student' vocational interest are not only related to free normal student' vocational selection,but related to the development of primary and high school education.Therefore,it is very valuable in theory and practice to study their vocational interest.Based on Holland Occupational Interest Survey,fresher, sophomore and junior of Shaanxi Normal University were chosen as subjects.At the same time, the characteristics of free normal student' vocational interest were investigated through a crossing study.In additon,this study investigated the first grade free normal students' vocational interest through a longitudinal study. Simultaneously, the study did some comparative research of the difference in demographic variable.The results of the study showed that:1.The percentage of free normal students' vocational interest on Social is 49%, the percentage of non-free normal students' vocational interest on Social is 42%. There are statistically significant differences in the vocational interest on Investigative and Artistic between free normal students and non-free normal students. There is no significant difference in the vocational interest on Social.2. There are statistically significant differences in gender of the free normal students' vocational interest on Realistic,Investigative,Artistic, Social and Conventional.Male students were more apt to Realistic and Investigative,and female students were more apt to Artistic, Social and Conventional.3. There are statistically significant differences in people of the free normal students' vocational interest on Realistic.4. There are statistically significant differences in origin of the free normal students' vocational interest on Realistic, Artistic, Social and Enterprising.5. There are statistically significant differences in grade of the free normal students' vocational interest on Realistic,Investigative,Artistic, Social, Enterprising and Conventional. Generally speaking,with grade increases,the trend declined.6. On the basis of longitudinal analysis, There are statistically significant differences in the vocational interest on Enterprising. The percents of Social and Enterprising have decreased,the percents of Realistic and Conventional have increased.
