Adaptation is a dynamic process of change, and the Free Normal Students’ adaptationproblems have both the university students’ adapt common characteristics, and its ownparticularity. In this study, the Chinese college students adapt Scale"(CCSAS) whichprepared by the research group of the Chinese college students mental health evaluationsystem of the Ministry of Education is used as the main research tool, and the NortheastNormal Free Normal students are the testee. In horizontal comparing, this researchinvestigates the adaptation situation of the four grades Free Normal Students, and in verticalcomparing, it analyzed the adaption data of Free Normal Students for five consecutive yearswhich can show the dynamic adaption process of the freshman. It also discusses the overalladaption situation and the different characteristics in gender, grade, and single-child or not,native place and so on.The main conclusions are as follow:1. In general, the overall adaption situation from grade2007-2011is in the mid to upperlevel.2. The adaption level of Free Normal Students of2008-2011from high-to-low is asfollow: careers adaption, self-adaptation, emotional adjustment adaption, learning adaption,campus life adaption, interpersonal skills adaption and satisfaction; the adaption level of FreeNormal freshman Students of2007-2011from high-to-low is as follow: careers adaption,self-adaptation, learning adaption, campus life adaption, interpersonal skills adaption,emotional adjustment adaption and satisfaction.3. The adaption situation of Free Normal adaptation has significant differences in gender,single-child or not, grades, majors, native place and so on. And between gender and grade,major and grade, gender and single-child or not, gender and native place exists interactivesignificantly.4. The dynamic adaption process of the freshman shows the characteristic of first dropafter rising like V.
