Plight. Multi-campus Management Solution

This paper is based upon a major characteristic of present Higher Education in China—Multi campus mode. With specific examples, the author pursues theoretical analysis of the causes and existing problems in present multi-campuses on Chinese university and college, and offers an ice-breaking path—solving the paradoxical problem in multi campus mode with the improvement of autonomous learning capability.By discussion in economy of scale, the author claims firstly that it is necessary to increase the scale, teaching quality and integration of teaching resources in Higher Education in China with multi campus schooling. Various problems appearing in multi campus schooling, even the ones seemingly paradoxical, are not inevitable in the expansion of Chinese college campuses. Rather, these issues can be ultimately solved with measures such as improved management, digital network construction, and so on.This paper bases its conclusion upon theoretical orientation of multi campus universities and colleges and detailed analysis of the causes and status multi campus universities and collegesabroad through the establishment of such higher education institutions. With both vertical and horizontal comparison and study of cases, the author emphasizes modes of expansion and combination in the shaping of Chinese multi campus universities and colleges. There are minor differences in the causes of Chinese multi campus universities and colleges and the experience of colleges abroad. Chinese educators and policy makers cannot overlook these distinctions while learning foreign experience in the process of Higher Education development with Chinese characteristics. Three common issues of management mode, information exchange and discipline integration among multi campus universities and colleges in China are the most serious problems as well as the main concern in the development of Chinese multi campus universities and colleges.Moreover, this paper offers a solution by improving autonomous learning capability to achieve breakthrough in existing problems of Chinese multi campus universities and colleges such as inconvenient location, hindered information exchange and low coherence. It is necessary on the one hand to advance student ability of cognition and to provide upgraded management in the face of various resources in the boost of autonomous learning capability. The author believes the most important cornerstone lies in digital network on the campus as a major way of information exchange.
