At present, the biggest problem existing in higher education is the "human loss." "Human loss" can be said to be the failure of higher education. There are various reasons influencing the result of higher education. Among these the failure of reasonable communication between the teachers and students is a critical one. The pursuit of effective contacts between teachers and students is to carter to people-oriented needs in higher education. Scientific research on the effective interaction theory and practice between university teachers and students in the field of higher education is undoubtedly important. This paper attempts to study the application and its related disciplines of higher education by means of basic education theories and expertise, intending to explore into the effective exchanges between teachers and students ,to come up with Countermeasures. The study includes four parts:The first part, the connotation of effective contacts between university teachers and students. It is to answer the basic question about what is effective exchange. The study holds that effective exchanges carter to the objectives of higher education, personnel training and professional personnel training. It is only a means, not an end. Invalid exchanges are those that do not suit the norms and provisions of the reasonable exchanges.The second part, analysis of invalid exchanges between university teachers and students. The study considers invalid exchanges manifests the non-performance of the major exchanges between the main bodies, a one-way monologue exchanges and exchanges that are simple in content and in lack of emotional interactions. The root for the failure of exchanges can be attributable to the narrow value orientation, education system constraints and the negative impact of traditional culture.The third part, study on the ideologies of effective exchanges. The author holds that the key to achieve effective teacher-student interaction lies in the change of ideas. That is to say, changes from contacts of tools to the contacts of purpose, from the exchanges of organization to those of soul, from the exchanges of heritage to those of research, from the exchanges of the common type to those of personality.The fourth part, study on the elements of effective university teachers and students exchanges. The study considers that university teachers and students exchanges are made up such four parts as language exchanges, knowledge exchanges, academic exchanges and emotional exchanges. Effective language exchanges should satisfy such requirements as language logic, language academy and language communication. It is necessary to build integrated professional system, implement effective two-way teaching and establish a sound evaluation mechanisms in order to achieve effective knowledge exchanges. In order to achieve effective academic exchanges, attention should be paid to the construction of academic freedom, strengthening the integration of teaching and research. In order to achieve effective emotional exchanges, university teachers and students should pay attention to the establishment of a mechanism for mutual trust, promote loving exchanges between the university students and teachers.
