Values are the whole systems of principle, faith, and criterion, stemming from the assessment and choice based on the evaluation of object significance or the positive aspect to the subject. Core values refer to the ones occupy the dominant position in the whole system, to human beings, they are so spontaneous and self-evident to the extent. Moral education puts an emphasis on the research of core values, as well as the harmonious society construction campaign. This paper delves into the core values of the high school students from the psychological aspect of moral education. The paper goes into two parts: the first one will give an in-depth look into the respondents' views on core values and the corresponding influential factors, the second part focuses on the respondents' psychological reactions about filial piety and honesty by the story-projecting strategy.In the first part, an open-ended questionnaire is conducted among 210 students aging from 14 to 22, which serves as the very basis for a formal questionnaire, and the formal questionnaire will be responded among 630 middle school students aging 12-20, asking them to arrange all the values and the corresponding influential factors by the order of importance and we find out that eight factors do matter in the core values of the respondents after a factor analysis ,they are: attitude toward society, personality qualities, the sense of community, moral characters, faith and principle, attitude toward life, personal competence, and the state of mind. Morality occupies the core place, with significant differences among different gender groups and different school grades, and without significant differences between urban and rural areas. According to the responses, nine factors affect the formulation of the core values, they are: social background, family background, life experience, campus atmosphere, media influence, the influence of tradition, the era background, personal qualities, the influence of parents, with significant differences among different gender groups ,school grades ,urban and rural areas.In the second part, the researcher conducts the story projecting research featuring filial piety and honesty which are recognized as the most important by the respondents in the preliminary survey, it turns out that their understanding of filial piety remains at the stage of being a principle, with significant differences between urban and rural areas, emotional experience and behavior tendencies are seriously affected by levels of cognition ,and we noticed no significant differences among different gender groups and school grades about cognition, emotion, behavior tendencies, over half of the respondents remain obliged to be honest, in the respect of honesty ,with significant differences between urban and rural areas, and among different school grades, In regard to the emotional experience, we observed significant differences among different school graders, between urban and rural areas behavior tendencies vary markedly according to different grader groups ,without significant differences between urban and rural areas, and among different grades and levels of cognition.
