This essay first discusses the moral views expected by the teaching materials. Through the analysis of the teaching materials, it expounds the college students' moral qualities expected by the nation from four aspects: social ethics, occupation morals, family virtue and personal morals. Firstly, they are expected to be civil and polite and they are willing to help others, take good care of public property, protect the environment and observe discipline and law. Secondly, they should respect their work, be honest and keep their words, be impartial, serve the people and devote to the society. Thirdly, they should respect the aged and cherish the young, keep equality of men and women, keep the harmony of the couple, be industrious and thrify and unite the neighbours. Fourthly, they should love the motherland, serve the people, advocate the science, work hard, unite and help each other ect. Then the essay inquires into the moral views the college students hold from eight dimensions through the questionnaires. The following are the results:(1) All the average values of each dimension are above 2.(2) The scores of the girls are higher than those of the boys.(3)There are remarkable differences among the grades in the aspect of be honest and keeping their words.(4) Only children get lower scores than others in the aspects of being polite and being well-intentioned.Finaly, the result of comparing the moral views expected by the teaching materials and the college students hold shows that they all regard the qualities of being polite, loving the motherland, being industrious and thrify and being well-intentioned ect. as the important qualities, but ignore the quality of being impartial. Most students look on honesty as one of the qualities they should possess most. The moral views expected by the teaching materials reflect the traditional idea of enduring and restraining.
