This thesis is trying to construct the teaching mode of contemporary art in common school's art education by means of analyzing the concept and aesthetic features of contemporary art. With regard to art, this mode aims at helping the students recognize the complicated current situation of art, distinguishing its beautiful and ugly aspects, judging its quality. With regard to education, this mode can cultivate students' ability of critical thinking, witch can make students learn to think deeply, learn to distinguish, and then mould students' independent personality. This thesis's proposition lies in: as to art education of middle school, contemporary art has its unique educational values. Through having alternative screening to it, contemporary art can be incorporated to the art education of middle school by means of different teaching modes.The thesis is made up of four parts:Part one: first of all, the author define the concept of the "contemporary art", analyzing its' aesthetic feathers, which contain the model language, contents and the forms of expression. Secondly, the thesis discussed the values of contemporary art in education, witch contains the following: 1, it can facilitate stimulating students' study interest; 2, it can facilitate training students' critical thinking; 3, it can facilitate cultivating students' modern cultural perspective. Finally, this chapter is also analyzing the theoretical foundations of contemporary art in education from the views of educational psychology, postmodern curriculum theory.Part two: the author discuss the principles of the screening of contemporary art, witch aims at strengthening the attitude that we should hold to it: we can not use it or abandon it without appreciation. The right way is that we should take what is useful to us and abandon what is not.Part three: this thesis provides the instructional modes of contemporary art in education. The author holds that with the view of the students' activity, students' contemporary art study should experience three major steps: knowing, practicing and criticizing. On this foundation, the author put forward the contemporary art instruct- ional modes: "appreciation and cognition" mode, "comment and judge" mode, "creation and expression" mode.Part four: The experiment proves the author's research suppose, i.e." Through the study of different contemporary artistic curriculum resources, the junior school students can thus appreciate the contemporary art, forming the critical thinking and cultivate the ability to express their thoughts or ideals by using the proper artistic language" .
