The reform in the field of elementary education and teachers education makes teachers' professional development as focus, and become the direction and topic of the movement of teachers' specialization. University-school cooperation mode, as one of the most effective way of teachers' professional development, will be regarded as a rational choice in each country. This dissertation makes a comparative study of the two U-S cooperation modes . between Britain and America, namely Teacher Partnership Schools (TPS) and Professional Development Schools (PDS), and tries to discuss laws of university-school cooperative partnership, so as to offer some references to our nation.The dissertation is divided into five parts:The first part describes the origin and development of the idea of teachers' professional development. This part is mainly about the development of teachers' specialization movement and historical review of the university-school cooperation. And then, necessities, ultimate pursuit and realistic significance of the university-school cooperation mode are respectively analyzed.The second part presents Britain mode of U-S cooperation-Teacher Partnership Schools. This part inquires into the origin, development and theoretical base of this mode.The third part presents American mode of U-S cooperation-Professional Development Schools. This part inquires into the origin, development and theoretical base of this mode.The fourth part is comparison and analysis. This part mainly makes a comparison of the two modes on the social drives, operation process and effects, and points out some differences and similarities between them. Based on it, some general laws on university-school partnership are summarized.The fifth part is enlightenment and reference. On the basis of the comparison in part four, the author points out the problems of isolation between university and school in initial teacher education in China and introduces the reform of Teacher Development Schools (TDS). In the end, some suggestions are put forward for establishing university-school cooperative partnership in teacher education reform for our nation based on the analysis of some difficulties and obstacles in China.
