New teacher induction education is a middle and key phase in teacher professional development process and it is very meaningful in accelerating the continuous teacher professional development. We can say that the quality of the induction education will influence not only their occupational orientation and permanence, but also their professional development pattern in the whole career.Although the new teacher induction program had been implemented in our country for a long time, it failed to make a remarkable effect for lacking of perfect systematic organization. So, it is necessary for us to study and learn form the other countries. Therefore, this thesis makes a study on the Kentucky Internship program(KTIP) which is a successful model program in U.S.Kentucky is one of the states who implemented the new teacher induction program in the earliest time in U.S. The systematic and perfect induction system has been set up through continuous reform and improvement since it was implemented since the early 1980s. They make detail regulations of the participation institution and members and their responsibilities, the process of the implement and the distribution of the funding. The participants included new teachers and committees of KTIP(resource teachers, principles and teacher educators). The forms of KTIP are cooperative mentoring and internet support. The methods of training are clinical mentoring and professional reflection by making"Professional Growth Plan". The evaluation of new teachers based on the Kentucky New Teacher Standards by using formative evaluation and summative evaluation at the same time. Teaching portfolio is adopted in the evaluation of new teachers. The studies showed that KTIP have achieved a remarkable success. KTIP help not only the adaptation and professional growth, but also cutting down the turnover rates of teachers in Kentucky and improving the quality of teaching. There are some basic experiences: focusing on the teachers' professional development; building up rigid quality assurance system and emphasizing close collaboration between elementary-secondary schools and pre-service teacher education institutes. The study of KTIP give us some inspirations, such as we should strengthen the systematic procedure of teacher induction education, emphasize the improvement of mentoring and fully play the collaboration between elementary-secondary schools and pre-service teacher education institutes.
