With the development of the society, people pay more and more attention to science education. After the reformation of the science education in our country, science curriculum is markedly improved and becomes one of the main curricula in school in elementary school. During the practice of science curriculum, the assessment of teaching in classroom is a difficult point to be dealt with. This study discusses the principle and theory of the assessment of teaching in classroom. By analyzing the status quo of modern evaluation of teaching in classroom, surveying the science teachers who are working in school, and interviewing experts, a picture of the connotation of the assessment in elementary science teaching is formed. It is significant both in enriching theory and in practice.The connotation of the assessment of elementary science teaching is suggested on the basis of the belief of the science curriculum, which aim to develop students in all-around, to promote the development of the teachers and students, to attach importance to the inside assessment of teaching and to embody the idea of opening, delaying and feasibility.The establish of the connotation of the assessment makes the following things prominent: the trait of assessment from many aspects, the effect of the inside assessment, the change of the core content of the assessment from teachers' teaching to students' learning, paying attention to students' thinking way during teaching, the ability of solve question, the forming of the good sensibility and emotion, the desire to inquiry and the development of all-around, the opinion of other teachers and the re-thinking of themselves, and the development of teachers and students.
