In this thesis, the author took the Salar concentrated area-Xunhua Salar Autonomous County, Qinghai Province-as the principal part of the research, the local ethnic groups-Salar, Tibetan, Huizu and Chinese Han-as the main researched, to explore the situations of the relationship among these ethnic groups by experimentally implementing the basic theories and approaches of Culture Anthropology, or Ethnology. Besides, the author spent more pages on the specialties of the Chinese Muslims of their ethnic groups' relations with other peoples or ethnic groups' co-inhabiting with them in multi-ethnic concentrated areas in northwest China. Directed by the education and the training and the acquisition of the theories and the approaches of Ethnic relations both foreign and abroad, the author realized the investigation and the writing work by referring to the theories and the approaches or achievements already constructed or elaborated by the precursors from the perspectives of the fittest and the most accurate. Meanwhile, the local knowledge and the subjective power are especially concerned as well.As for the approaches, it is the integration and the combination of the typical anthropological way-the long term participant observation-and the historical literature, which personally was believed as a breakthrough to only analyze the society through literature of history. Also some approaches of Ethnic Sociology such as the tools of analysis and the variables of the factors are implemented. In terms of the structure of the paper, the first part, the introduction of the paper, briefly accounted for the backgrounds of the research, the preparation work, the value of the work etc. The Chapter one is an in-depth description of the structure of the society, such as the geographies, the peoples, the history, the religions, the regulations, etc to enlighten the reader to know the society before the curtain is unveiled. The Chapter two focused on the social change, which covered a variety of terms by the informants (the local people of all walks of life) of their nuncupations about the area they have been living in. Chapter three is the main part of the whole thesis, the author carefully probed into the social stratifications, the inhabitations, the education, the geographic situations, and the ethnic boundaries etc. to charily illustrate the real relations between people, between ethnic groups. The marriage, the belief and the interactions were also concerned as the cases of the study. Chapter four, the author concluded that ethnic groups living in different areas should not be stereotyped only from one side of speech or one case, because in different areas the complication should perform respectively of their own. In Xunhua Salar Autonomous Region, under the guidance of the construction of the harmonious society, the relationship will dynamically perform differently as far as the culture, the economy and the politics are concerned. In Conclusion, the case of Salar concentrated area relationship study is to read what the developing route of different ethnic groups in Northwest China will be, it is only a staggered situation, because in different stages, different backgrounds, the relationship will function differently.
