| In the age pursuiting knowledge and harmonious development, a great change has taken place in education from primary and middle school to college or university. In the past, there existed some deficiencies in basic education, so the reform carried out is to cultivate students with various knowledge who are likely to adapt to the rapid development in the 21st century. Against this background, the new course reform on history in junior middle school has been implemented since 2001, which is to establish the new courses to adapt to the development of society and economy, create a brand new educational mode to meet the demand of quality education so as to lay a good foundation for students to adapt to the development of society and offer a better service to society. The focus of this study is how to implement the new course reform, whether the reform can reach its goal and how many problems still exist in the new course reform.With lots of documents and references, this paper offers a good analysis to the background and goal of the new course reform on history in China and gives a general description to the introduction of the new course on history implemented in Jinan By means of questionnaires and talk etc, the author also investigated the actual situation since the reform of new course on history has been implemented in some middle schools, Jinan, from which we can see some great changes in the new course teaching on history in junior middle school.
