Mathematics is an instrument of science, which has fully demonstrated its use value in the process of human material civilization. Mathematics also refers to a kind of culture. It is the crystallization of human's wisdom. Its value has penetrated everywhere in human society. However, the earlier mathematics teaching stressed its instrumental value and neglected its role on humane education. At present, science education and humane education are gradually mixed together under their struggle. Education moves towards the era of science and humane education. This demands the mathematics teaching , on the basis of transmission of knowledge and method of thinking, bring its cultural value into play, strengthen the training of students' down to earth, deligent, creative science and human spirits and their cooperative consciousness. This can guide the students to experience the beauty of mathematics, and instruct them to foster patriotism and strive and keep forging ahead through the explanation of the history of mathematics.The thesis consists of five chapters. Chapter One is about the question presentation, which discusses the source and state of the research both at home and abroad. Chapter Two displays the theoretical basis for this thesis. In this part, the definitions of science , humanities and related concepts are discussed and the necessity and possibility of implementing science and humane education in mathematics teaching are explored on the basis of theory and subject.Chapter Three is about the questionnaire involved with the students who are in the first grade of five senior middle schools. The purpose of this questionnaire is to find out the state of senior middle school students' science spirits and humane aptitudes in mathematics in China . The investigation shows that most of students choose to learn mathematics because of college entrance examination, few students can get pleasure from mathematics and at present, the state of their science and humane spirits is not quite optimistic. Many students lack matter-of-fact attitudes, persistence of truth and critically skeptical and creativeconsciousness. They like to face up a challenge , but a large number of them prefer to face a challenge independently rather then cooperate with other students. This shows that students lack cooperative consciousness. In the light of the problems mentioned above, Chapter Four explores the approaches to implement science and humane education in mathematics teaching from five aspects. Chapter Five mainly presents the suggestions to carry out science and humane education in mathematics teaching.Date collection, method of investigation and some other scientific research methods are adopted in this thesis. With the help of these methods ,a large quantity of scientific date is acquired and this strong support to the thesis.
