The village in the city (VIC) is a phenomenon of typical urbanization in China under special historical circumstances. VIC brings so many negative influences to city development that it is necessary to reconstruct VIC and make it into the city system, such as mixed building arrangements, bad sanitation conditions, simple infrastructure facilities, and complicated social public securities and so on. The reconstructing of VIC has widely been focused on by all societies and is becoming a newly emerging subject, which refers to many kinds of studies. A lot of scholars in the theoretical fields have done broad and deep research on the subject. Currently, researches on VIC and its corresponding reconstructing have already been done, however, some problems still exist, which need to be further discussed. This thesis puts forward the necessity of reconstructing the VIC by analyzing the VIC's evolvement, the status quo and the negative effects on city development. On the basis of the research development about VIC in China and the related theories, the paper further summarizes 6main issues existed in reconstructing of VIC, i.e. from villagers to residents, from the village committee to the community committee, the reform of collective land, the reform of collective economic group, the reform of collective assets, and the reconstructive modes. In order to reconstruct the existed VICs and prevent the newly forming VICs, the paper chooses and analyzes the experiences of reconstructing VIC of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Beijing and Qingdao from the east of China and Zhengzhou and Xi'an from the middle and west of China for other cities to learn from. According to the above theoretical analyses and experience conclusions, the paper takes Tianjin as an example to combine theory with practice, exploring not only its VICs but also the status quo and the modes of the reconstructing of VIC in Tianjin, applying SPSS " Analyze-Classify- Hierarchical Cluster" method to classifying the VICs of Tianjin city into 3 kinds and analyzing their corresponding features and directions of reconstructing. At last, the paper puts forward some specific countermeasures to the reconstructing of VIC from the aspects of theory and practice.
