| Xia Mianzun ,a famous educationalist and writer in modern China contributed a lot in secondary school education ..especially Chinese teaching .However ,during a long period we are so inclining to introducing so-called advanced educational theories from the West that we omitted many traditional good theories brought forward by our own educationalists from being sorted ,inherited and enhanced .Xia's essays on education were published in huge quantities of periodicals in his time and many people have collected them .Since there hasn't been a systematic study on these essay ,this thesis tries to deal with this question by classifying and summing up them according to concepts of Chinese teaching ,self-teaching ,reading and writing ,thus forms a kind of system .This thesis also compares Xia's practice and his theory on Chinese formed during the early years of the 20th century with those of today .Therefore ,by summarizing his theory's advantage and good efforts on Chinese teaching in this new century ,it will help extract concrete teaching method and instruct our secondary school Chinese teachers .And finally ,this thesis analyzes some inadequacies or limitations of Xia's practice and theory caused by time ,and puts forward some proposals in view of them. |
