Integrity Education: Contemporary Ideological And Political Education Of A New Topic

Historically, honesty and trustworthiness are Chinese traditional virtues. Especially in the time of constructing socialist market economy, these two virtues are more important than ever. However the "honesty and trustworthiness crisis" has been a relatively serious social problem in China. In college, the problem of lacking honesty and trustworthiness among the students has been attached more and more attention by people. So, strengthen the education of being honest and trustworthy has been a brand new subject of the ideological and political education on undergraduates.This essay starts from explaining the meaning of honesty and trustworthiness, state the origin and evolution of the conception of them, and summarizes the meaning of them in modern time. On this basis, it analyzed the importance of the education for being honest and trustworthy among undergraduates from two aspects, which are the construction of socialist market economy and the self-development of undergraduates. The essay also listed the reasons and representations of lacking honesty and trustworthiness by combining with the self-situation and the environment of self-development of the undergraduates. On the basis of the above analysis, the essay built up the framework of carrying out the education for being honest and trustworthy: explicating the object of the education for being honest and trustworthy, broadening the way of carrying out the education, and built up the security system of it.
