Poem teaching is one important part of the Chinese language teaching. Taking the point of view in poem teaching strategy, this article probes into the problems of the aging ideas and methods existing in poem teaching. By studying the data, doing questionnaire and making some conclusions of the experience achieved in poem teaching practice, this article also does some analysis in the signs and causes of the insufficiency in poem teaching. It contains the opinion of reforming poem teaching in the middle schools in three aspects: the use of teaching material, class teaching methods and learning manner. In the aspect of the use of teaching material, it calls for the idea of unit teaching, optimizing and recombining the unit materials. In class teaching, it requires creating learning situation, encouraging the individuating reading and improving the reading quality in order to strengthen the students taste. In learning manner, it demands researching study to have the conformity of the studying production. It also suggests some elicitation of poem teaching practice and theory researching so as to promote the reforming of poem teaching.
