The information revolution we undertaking will have greater impact on social economy, politics and culture than any technological revolution did in history. In this sense, changes in social values and thought patterns caused by information transmission on the net and its effect on ideological and political qualities of college students are closely related to ideological and political education. In a broader sense, traditional ideological and political education patterns are seriously challenged. Thus, study and application of network information technology in ideological and political work and research, even in educational reform as a whole, has become a new subject that requires urgent solution. The article begins with the large change which are bring to the network. Analyze and study the good opportunities and challenges the internet brings to the ideological and political education of college and universities. The 1th Chapter, focuses on introducing network bring benefit and harm to undergraduate. The 2th Chapter, analyses network's development brings ideological and political education opportunities and challenges. The 3th Chapter, focuses on analyzing changes of education subject, education object, the relationship of the subject and the object, transmission contents, education approaches, education contents in the ideological and political education pattern, and points out that under the network environment the ideological and political education pattern has advantageous characteristics, such as interaction, initiative, individualization, openness, and warning, etc.. Under network circumstances, changes of ideological and political education pattern have taken place. Our final purpose of this discussion is to direct ideological and political education practices under the circumstances. Thus the 4th Chapter, with the title 'basic ways to build network mode of ideological and political education in colleges and universities', points out that this construction should be implemented from three aspects: subject, object, and medium. Particularly speaking, we should promote working skills required by education subject to fit in with network circumstances; cultivate good conduct of education object to use modern network techniques; and fully develop and utilize ideological and political education resources in network. At the end of this article, the author argues that we should not only strengthen our theoretical study and properly handle inheritance and development relationship between two modes in the transforming process, but also construct and perfect scientific administration of colleges and universities' network based on institutional mechanism.
