Following the theoretic paradigm of functionalism in social anthropology, this research is an ethnographic study which is on rural schooling of nationality with less population-Yugur nationality. The research puts the Minhua community and region of Yugur nationality's development into the background of the globalization and China's modernization, focusing on subject matter-"community development and culture selection of schooling". The report includes four parts-"introduction", "narrations of background", "display of fieldwork" and "theoretical interpretations".The researcher holds that Minhua community had gone through the humanity course from "margin" to "core" between 1949 and 1997, and it has begun the course of relative deprivation after 1997 taking region of Yugur nationality as reference system. Nowadays, development of Minhua community confronts many difficult circumstances, such as ecological environment deterioration, biodiversity's decreasing, economic and social problem increasing, increasing of resistance to develop and disappearance of traditional culture.The researcher analyses the functions of schooling of Yugur nationality in social anthropology, and points out that schooling of Yugur nationality should have two basic functions. The one is to impart the scientific-cultural knowledge of mainstream in modern society, promotethe community development, let the students adapt the mainstream life and realize the up-social flowing by filtration and distribution. The other is to transmit the culture of self-nationality and let the students adapt the life of local community to maintain the existence and stabilization of community. The author considers schooling of Yugur nationality should carry out culture selection in extensive social-cultural background and meet realistic needs of area development. So schooling of Minhua community should be a kind of comprehensive education which integrates career education, environmental educational and creative education based on basic knowledge learning.Further, the researcher points out that developmental pattern of Minhua community should be transferred from "government- guided pattern" to "participating pattern". Through the joint efforts of community and school, we would like to construct supportive social relationship between them.The researcher firmly believes that Minhua community and Yugur nationality will have a bright future with the help of brothers' national people and the self-striving.
