The information society and the knowledge economy times have put forward to the schools' teaching and education a basic task: enhancing the qualities of all the students in an all round way. Elementary education undertakes the task of enhancing the qualities of the whole nation with its special functions. Of all the qualities, fostering the students' creativity is very important with creative thinking as the core. In the history of biology ,quit a lot of basic materals of cultivating creative thinking can be found. Nowdays, there appear more and more treatises on the creative thinking training, but few of them are expounded in a systematic way and combined with the features of the history of biology. In order to improve the students' qualities and foster the students' creative thinking ability, this treatise explores the relevant problems from both theory and practice. In theory, this treatise, taking the relevant theories of dialectical materialism, theory of knowledge, creative science, thinking science, psychology, pedagogy as a guide, expounds the concept, the characteristics, basic forms of creative thinking and also the importance of the system of creative thinking in fostering the talented persons. In addition, this treatise, which is combined with the features of the history of biology, discusses the general teaching principles, approaches and methods of creative thinking; during the process of teaching practice, seeks for the ways and serategies to foster the students creative thinking by using the history of biology to provide the theoretical and practical reference for fostering the students' creative thinking in the chemistry teaching in middle schools.
