With constant development of lifelong education and lifelong learning, learning throughout the whole life is much more realized and accepted now. Lifelong learning not only become the need of man, but also is becoming reality. Man is working hard toward the prospects of learning society. Adult, employed or unemployed, is the main part of the society. They take the main responsibility in establishment of learning society. And they are major undertaker of learning community and leaning family. Therefore, it is more important to help them learn how to learn and find what they need quickly and accurately than to learn something.During the time of lifelong learning, learners, especially adult learners, may encounter various problems. No matter what level of adult education and no matter what kind of educational environment, adult learners have a common problem, which is how to make full use of positive factors and avoid passive ones, dig out the potentials and learn efficiently and successfully. At present, cooperative learning is a successful sample, which spread the whole world.Cooperative learning is one of most focused fields in recent educational psychology. Briefly, Cooperative learning is a generic term for various small group interactive instructional procedures. Students work together on academic tasks in small groups to help themselves and their teammates learn together. It is an educational theory which takes students as the center of knowledge construction and suits education of all types and at all levels. There are many profound theoretical and practical basis of cooperativetlearning in adult learning. Adult education should also introduce this theory into teaching system so as to cultivate and develop adult students' ability to cooperate with others.My thesis is based on that social backgrounds and practice of learning reform. I analyze cooperative learning home and abroad and summarize their experiences, and compare adult learning and children's learning. And I critically absorbed findings others had achieved. From respects of theory and practice, I studied a series of problems, such as theoretical base, facts, essential conditions, theory model, procedure of cooperative learning. I wish my work can provide guides to specific practice in cooperative learning during adult learning and try to change that situation we use basic education methodology and model to teach adult. And I wish my work can perfect and enrich pedagogy of adult education and accelerate constant development of adult education.The main contents of the thesis are as follow:Chapter one: the outline of cooperative learning, which is beginning of my thesis and also logical beginning. This chapter is mainly about discussion of concepts ofcooperative learning and relative concepts, introduction and explanation of its basic factors, kinds, methods and its developing history.Chapter two: theoretical base and objective basis of cooperative learning. I base cooperative learning on Marxism, psychology learning theory, pedagogy and system theory; by the contrast of adult education and basic education, I analyze objective basisof practice-- Features of adult as learner, and according to this, I elaborate thesignificance of adult cooperative learning practice.Chapter three: operation model of adult practice. In order to organize and implement adult cooperative learning, I first simply explain concepts of the model, then give a thorough analysis and description on the structure of its operation model. At last, I compare adult cooperative learning with other adult learning method and find out their respective advantages and disadvantages to stress features of adult cooperative learning and its value.Chapter four: The implementation of adult cooperative learning. On the basis of above three chapters' analyses, this chapter mainly focuses on the issues about its implementation.
