It is a historical problem that we roundly improve the civic scientific literacy, which the national and international governments are endlessly questing for, in the new century. This thesis thinks deeply how to cultivate the senior high school students' scientific literacy according to the theme of scientific literacy, from the points of view of its theoretical analysis and its survey and the integration of two former analysises. This paper has three parts.In the first part, it discusses the quality of the senior high school students' scientific literacy and its structure. It lengthways hackles the notion of scientific literacy and breadthwise anatomies the senior high school students' scientific literacy, from the angle of theoretical analysis. On this basis, it firstly gives a argumentation about a qualitative definition and a operational definition of the scientific literacy, to analyze the structural system. Then it confirms the dimensionality of scientific literacy, and analyzes the characteristics of scientific literacy in terms of the senior high school students' development, such as its basic characteristic, its time characteristic and its continuable developmental characteristic.In the second part, the paper analyzes the actuality of senior high school students' basic scientific literacy. Relatively, it mostly discusses the problem from the practice angle of survey. Firstly, it analyzes the survey of senior high school students' scientific literacy from some physics' test questions, which were implemented by the Chinese Teaching Committee of Physical Societies. Secondly, it detailedly analyzes the survey of shanghai senior high school students' scientific literacy, from the all-around scientific content. Lastly, it puts questions to current status of senior high school students' scientific literacy.In the last part, the thesis makes a deeply thinking about how to improve the senior high school students' scientific literacy. On the basis of the two forenamed parts, it establishes the tridimensional frame from the multidimensional structures of scientific education, to raise a system of strategy, which can help senior high school students to improve their scientific literacy.
