The teacher's role is a widely concerned focus in both theqry and practice fields in education. The present thesis uses a qualitative research method to probe into the teacher's role in kindergarten children teaching activities through an investigation of the teaching practice of three kindergarten teachers.Concerning the teacher's role, the by-gone studies have usually been carried out in a structural model which ignore the actual situations in teaching and therefore, with a strong sense of rational speculation. The present thesis uses a process model which pays more attention to the exploration of multiple reality and structure processing. This model also gives a detail description of phenomena which emphasize what these phenomena really mean in the eye and mind of the doers. It bears the characteristics of science of phenomena. The research result doesn't require universal relevelance, but it has strong sense of emotion. The present study has not only the exploration of the existing problems , but also shows concern to the kindness in moral practice and the beauty in life.Following the social role theory that requires realistic and strict scholarship, the present study has gone to teaching practice to get the reliable data. It catches the teacher's role in teaching through teacher-kindergarten children interaction. Furthermore, the study compares it with the teacher's role promoted by modem conceptions in education in order to find out the proper role a teacher should play. At the same time, the paper analyzes factors that affect the teacher's role from which the author not only finds problems existing in our education practice, but also tries best to offer suggestions for solutions.The present study results show that in kindergarten children's language teaching activities, the teacher should be the situational setter of children's learning, and also an initiator, a guide and a researcher ,and cooperator in children's active learning. The roles a teacher plays are not single, fiat, but rather, they are multiple and three-dimensional,which are built up in a network. Among these roles, the most essential role for a teacher is a creator. But in teaching practice, there still exists improper or even crash of the teacher's role. This requires us to build up the correct conceptions of teaching, improve and perfect scientific and democratic teaching management system. Teachers are also required to improve the quality of teaching , hence make them play proper roles in teaching and at the same time enjoy the inner dignity and joy from being a teacher. |
