Owing to the outbreak of the anti-Japanese war,the large-scale migration of the Chinese high schools in the1930's and1940's,became a notable phenomenon in the Chinese modern educational history.Suffering a great deal from the sudden war,the Chinese high education, under the enduring efforts of those teachers and students, was not only restored but also eyewitted a great progress in the backward mid-west areas, leaving an important influence on the whole country and mid-west during the eight years of anti-Japanese war. Such an unprecedented migration was not only an important part of the entire nation's anti-aggression war,but also brought important effect to the chinese modern high education and the development of the mid-west areas. At the turn of the centuries, with the tide of developing mid-west region and strengthening the country through science and education,it is of both historical significance and realistic meanings for us to make a study of this eight-year migration and its important impacts on the development of mid-west region. This thesis is aimed to make a historical outline in three parts to the high-school migration during that time from the beginning of this migration, the restorement and development afterwards,as well as its great effects on high education,anti-Japanese war and the mid-west region.
