To foster and pursue the sense of language is a fundamental approach to the learning of every native language, and it is the traditional experience in the learning of Chinese in China. The essence of sense of language is the construing of language from the perspective of cognitive psychology. The sense of language is intuitive, contextual and individual. In the teaching of Chinese in middle school, the training of sense of language is the kernel point, which is beneficial for carrying out various functions of Chinese teaching. It is an effective approach to the training of language cOmpetence, the cultivating of thinking, and the fostering of creativity, and the breakthrough point of reform in Chinese teaching. The fostering of sense of language should pay sufficient attention to the features of it and find a good choice in the materials. In the meantime, students should be required to lay emphasis on reading and tasting of materials, to transfer between speaking and writing, and to obtain sense of language from life experiences with the teacher's analysis of sense of language as the theoretical basis. Apart from that, students should be led to analyze the main sentences and words, to weigh the implied meaning of sentences, and to analyze sentences with grammatical errors etc.
