| On the occasion of the beginning of the new century, the implementation if quality education and the training and study of creative ability are put on the top agenda as the root causes of invigorating and revitalizing our Chinese nation. Because creative ability and mathematical modeling are inseparably interconnected, the latter should be considered as a hot point of the education study in the 2lst century. As a matter of fact, elementary work was achieved by many education experts and scholars. However, the majority of these studies was confined to discussion of theories, suchas the definition , the status and the significance of mathematical modeling and the radical methods of mathematical modeling as well as the relationship between mathematics teaching and mathematical modeling, etc. As to the relationship between mathematical modeling and creative ability, especially on aspects as how to cultivate the students?ability of mathematical modeling and promote their creative ability, the study was not thorough enough, their approaches limited mainly to mental analysis and the conclusion lacked substantive support. This thesis first presents an outline of mathematical modeling on its definition, significance, effect and its relationship with problem solving and quality education with the method of document analysis. Secondly, through questionnaires, it conducts a survey on the present condition of. the abilities of mathematical modeling and creation of senior middle school students. In subsequence a corresponding training strategy and concrete experiment steps are worked out. Finally, with the method of education experiment, it discusses the effect of mathematical modeling training on the creative ability of the senior middle school students. As a result, we also get the elementary idea that the subject of mathematics is an important subject of developing the students.ability of mathematical modeling. And mathematical modeling is also a decisive element in cultivating creative thinking.
