Self-drive tourism is a kind of tourism. But there are some differences between the consumption behavior of this kind of travel and ordinary tourism. Self-drive tourism has the characteristic of multiple destinations. And tourist’s behavior has the characteristics of autonomy, uniqueness and conspicuous. And self-driving tour is less affected by location and types of event selection. Self-drive tourists have more concern on the communication of values with each other.In terms of word use, self-driving tourism and drive tourism can be viewed as synonym. After a period of history, people focus the purpose of self-driving tourism as leisure, but the spirit of freedom can not be ignored. The definition of self driving tour have more emphasis on willing to drive travel spontaneously than the identity of who drivers are.The activity of self-drive tourism is worth studying in view of its market size, economic effect and the influence to tourism industry as well as destination.The routes is very important in tourism and self-drive tourism. Gartner and Hunt(1988) argue that accurate data of tourist flow is essential to marketing plans. Studying tourist behavior from tour routes is an indirect way, the advantages are that the data collection is convenient, and the results can be useful. The ArcGIS software is a method of displaying travel route. In this study,it shows that the route points is diffusive. And part of the route points is aggregate. The discovery might be a prove that drive tourism is beneficial to region tourism.To set up a questionnaire survey is another way to know customers. In self-drive tourism, significant consumer behaviors include the length of stay,sights and destinations,type of cars,accommodation mode,features of travel plans. This research found that self-drive tourists often choose the time of small long holiday to travel,and their travel distance within 300 km in the most. In addition,tourists have a higher inclination for car renting in the destination than taking long distance drive. When searching for travel message,mobile club is their most welcome choice.In order to promote the development of self-driving tourism, local governments and operators should strengthen public service, diversify products and spread information efficiently. Scenic areas should improve their service quality.
