High school students as the main body part of teenagers are in the sensitive period, peak physical development and psychological changes, but in recent years, middle school students’ physical health level is not high as a whole, and there are numerous unsubstantiated reports of various chronic diseases showing that a trend of younger age of the health of our country’s future talents is worrying. And such situation have brought huge challenge to the PE in our country. Therefore, the education department has issued the "Ordinary High School PE and Health Curriculum Standard (experiment)". Since its implementation, PE in our country considers "health first" as a guiding thought, more and more parts of China are reforming the primary and secondary school PE.Track and field events play a irreplaceable role in the development of students’ power, speed, stamina, agility, coordination, and so on. How can track and field teaching affect the physical health of students, reserve personnel training, etc? It is clearly required in the "Standard" that content of track and field project plate shall account for at least 1 credit.[1]As for the spirit of "Standard", the track and field teaching should play a leading role. But at present, there remain many problems in track and filed teaching, such as unreasonable teaching content, single teaching method, teaching incomprehensive evaluation, and so on.Education level in Tangshan Hebei Province is located in the forefront, but for the data of ordinary high school track and field teaching research is relatively scarce, so, this paper takes Tangshan ordinary high school physical education and health class teaching current situation of track and field as the research object, and chooses 14 ordinary high school randomly as the object of investigation. Using the literature material method, questionnaire survey method, measurement method, interview method, mathematical statistics and other research methods studies the present situation of track and field teaching. By understanding the new curriculum under the background of the basic conditions of Tangshan ordinary high school track and field teaching implementation, find out some problems existing in ordinary high school track and field teaching, and put forward some countermeasure and the suggestion for its reforming, In order to speed up the reform of basic education and improve the teaching quality of track and field course, also the paper provides some reference opinions.Through fully investigation and analysis, puts forward the following conclusions:(1) The goal of track and field course teaching remains to be improved. The PE teachers’ teaching ideas have to be changed first. Teaching of track and field can’t be just one-way inculcation and reception, either, we must care more about "people-oriented ideas" to cultivate students’ personality traits and interests, and pay more attention to students’ health, the dynamic changes of social environment and the students’ need for their future development.(2) 87.5% of teachers consider the number of hours adequate.(3) The track and field course content arrangement is not abundant enough. Track and field teaching should bring in such content as "interest, life, personal characteristics.(4) The track and field course teaching method is single. The PE teachers should combine the specific teaching content, students’ conditions and select proper teaching methods.(5) The track and field course teaching evaluation is incomprehensive. In accordance with the standards, students’ comprehensive assessment should come from various perspectives.(6) PE teachers’ level of profession remains to be enhanced. We can improve the teaching level of PE teachers and update their knowledge structure by organizing a variety of teaching and research activities.(7) The equipment of track and field teaching facilities is average on the whole, which needs to be optimized further. We also need to increase investment and maintenance funds, and improve the existing conditions of track and field teaching.(8) PE teachers are not satisfied with the salary and the quantity work, the relevant departments should improve the level of treatment to guarantee PE teachers’ life quality and decrease the unnecessary bad feelings of PE teachers.
