For a long time, the course of track and field consists of the aim of aiding students in gaining the knowledge and techniques of the course, ignoring the function of promoting students?ˉhealthy quality, even students?ˉdevelopment of lifelong P.E. As a result, students lose the interest in the course of track and field. Also, it makes people question the course of track and field. As a survey said, the course of track and field comes across serious adversity in ordinary colleges and universities of Shandong. With the practice of elective system, the position of track and field teaching is getting worse and worse; what?ˉs more, it has the possibility of disappearance. All of those make the track and field teaching in non-sports major marginalized.Research shows that systematically and scientifically participating in athletics regularly can promote the body's metabolism, improve the regulatory function of the nervous system and organs function to raise one's health level and work ability. Track and field is not only the basis of the specific sport, but also has important value of body-building, The track and field alternative system of regular institutions of higher learning can not only build up students' health level but also improve their mental health. At the same time it can also increase their social adaptation and let the students grasp the basic ability of track and field sports. The students can build up the consciousness of "lifelong P.E". Therefore, the development of track and field alternative system in regular institutions of higher learning is constructive and significant and the reform of it has become essential.The writer targets,takes diverse study methods, such as data researches, questionnaires, talks with exports, induction and deduction, statistics and also discusses the status quo of the course and find out disadvantages and existing problems. At the same time, we can come up with some methods to deepen the reform of university P.E teaching, which can promote P.E teaching.1.The course is dull and boring; also, it is difficult to pass. Those make students do not like it. body building, Entertainment and enjoyment. But most students ignore it, which contribute to the bad position of the course.2.Track and field alternative system in regular institutions of higher learning of Shandong is still using traditional teaching methods and teaching means singly. However which students as subject is seldom used.3.The rescan of the two nature body building and competitive of the track and field sports. Although the characteristic of body building is very important, we can not ignore competitive nature's role in promoting the mental health and improving the social adaptation of the students.4. First of all, the course of track and field in ordinary colleges and universities of Shandong should take the healthy P.E and lifelong P.E as the ideology. At the same time, reform the evaluation methodology and rebuild the scientific evaluation system.
