Our country is a multi-nationality country made up of 56 nationalities. It has 56 different cultures which cause culture friction and culture conflict. Thus the most important issue in the country is ethnic harmony. Based on the communication between different nationalities, recognition of ethnic minorities’ cultural identity should be strengthened for facilitating ethnic harmony. Besides, recognition of ethnic minorities’ cultural identity should be cultivated from children not only in common schools but also in ethnic schools. In particular, Chinese plays an important role in spreading ethnic minorities’culture.Chinese is a unified subject of instrumentality and humanity. When The Chinese Language Curriculum Criterion went into effect in 2011, the humanity of Chinese was fully reflected and provided a requirement of ethnic minorities’culture infiltration. Thus it is an effect way to infiltrate ethnic minorities’culture based on primary mother tongue textbook. However, the ethnic minorities’culture works in primary mother tongue textbook of PEP edition are too little. It is not practical if ethnic minorities’culture works are increased while others are decreased sharply. So this thesis focus on these selected ethnic minorities’ culture works, getting maximum value for each ethnic minority culture work, and providing some practical suggestions for Chinese teachers. The thesis contains three parts in total:The first part is about a status analysis of the ethnic minorities’ culture in primary mother tongue textbook of PEP edition. Analysis starts from eight dimension angle for ethnic minorities’ culture contents in textbooks, they are:the proportion of ethnic minorities’culture works, the theme of the text, author, the quality of the main character, illustrations, cultures and customs, exercise, theme-based units. This part aims for posting questions and presenting the content of ethnic minorities’culture works in primary mother tongue textbook of PEP edition.The second part discusses the lack of ethnic minorities’ culture in primary mother tongue textbook of PEP edition. The problems stems from text system, guided learning system, knowledge system and homework system. The main purpose of this part is analyzing the problems and presenting the problems.The third part proposes several solutions to the lack of ethnic minorities’ culture in primary mother tongue textbook of PEP edition. The author believes it should make efforts in the following three aspects. The improvement of textbook contents, teacher’s teaching strategies and school. The main aim of the part is solving the problems and throwing out suggestions.
