Reading is the main body of Chinese teaching, and throughout the course of the Chinese language teaching. Reading is a important index to measure students’ academic achievement and knowledge attainment. Through effective reading activities, students can not only obtain the cognitive and intellectual development, also can develop a scientific outlook on life and values. Extracurricular reading is according to what you are reading and the reading of a definition. Relative to the reading class, extracurricular reading is a reading mode that the students use their spare time, according to their own interests to choose the reading object. Broadly extracurricular reading can improve students’language and thinking development and influence the moral sentiment, improve the comprehensive quality of students from various aspects, as well.In this paper we take a primary school in Huai Bin County of Xinyang, Henan province as an example. We take the stratified sampling method in the school grade four, a total of 8 in proportion to select 120 students in classes as investigation object, through the way of questionnaire survey its inclination of Chinese extracurricular reading materials, attitude, status, and the part of the teachers and the bookstore operator interviews, further understanding of the local primary school Chinese extracurricular reading. Through the statistical analysis of the results of the survey, the author found that the main problems that exist in a local primary school Chinese extracurricular reading, and in view of the problems from the economic, cultural and individual factors three aspects analyzes the reasons and put forward some solution suggestions, hope to make a small contribution to improving Chinese extracurricular reading situation of rural primary school students.This paper can be divided into four parts. The first part introduced the paper selected topic reason, and combined with the domestic and foreign existing related research for primary school students extracurricular reading research present situation has carried on the brief review, determined by combing research idea research methods: questionnaire survey method, interview method, content analysis method.The second part based on a brief introduction of the case school, according to the survey results. We discussed in two aspects:around the primary school Chinese extracurricular reading resources situations around the problems existing in the primary school Chinese extracurricular reading resources development two aspects is discussed.The third part discusses the economic development, cultural environment, and individual preference and choice for primary school students Chinese extracurricular reading resources acquired, deals with the influence factors of the development of rural primary school Chinese extracurricular reading resources.The fourth part puts forward the development of extracurricular reading four principles:morality, knowledge, principle, applied principle, age-appropriate principle, based on classifying extracurricular reading resources development, and put forward the extracurricular reading resources development channels.
