A Study On The Folk Concept Of Chinese Dragon And Its Symbolic Meaning

Because of the culture of Long has deeply permeated into people’s hearts, which has become one of the very unique phenomenon of folk belief in China.It contains the tincture of traditional culture and at the same time contains the flavor of modern culture.China possesses five thousand years’ civilization, culture of Long is constantly formed、developed and perfected in this long time.Many researches studied about the cognition of the Long’ attitude and behavior of its performance from the aspects of Archaeology and folklore.There is little study about the cognition of the Long’s attitude and behavior of its performance from the Angle of psychology.In this paper, after comprehending about the knowledge of other subjects,the author relying on his major knowledge of psychology, depending on the accumulation of Folk Psychology Research Team, try to explore the public’s attitude of the Long’ characterization from the perspective of conceptual analysis in the folk. Based on the practical research, the author analyzes the masses attitudes for the culture of Long.It is useful to enrich the cultural research.In view of the above discussions, specific to do the following researches: study1, It is to know the people’s cognition of the Long, mainly using the method of features enumeration and to study for expressing the dimension of the features of the Long’s culture by the method of systematic cluster; study2, Adopting evaluation high-frequency words which has obtained in the first study to research the cognitive attitude of the Long; study3, It is to activate the recognition for high power words via images of the Long so as to improve the reaction time for high power words; study4, It is to insight into the cultural influence on public psychology and cognition by means of semi-structured interviewing participators.The conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1) The mass express mainly in four dimensions of the features of the Long.These dimensions are totem worshiping, positive effect, cultural inheritance, fusion and encouraging goodness.(2) The public’s perception of the Long is a positive attitude.(3) The images of the Long can improve people’s reaction time for high power words.(4) The popular have understood the Long symbolized the spirits and culture.The Long has positively influenced the mass.In this paper, through the above four studies, the folk know and understand the features of the Long’s culture which keeps pace with the times.The knowledge and understanding of the culture of the Long has played a very important role on regulating people’s behavior in their daily life.The public can apply the excellent spirits which the culture of the Long contains to their life, it contributes to promote building our power country in the cultural field.
