| Under the background of national fitness and sunshine sports activities, using effective measurements to encourage college students to take exercises, cannot only enhance students’ physical and mental health, but also promote the quality of country talents. According to our preliminary analysis, we found that even most of college students realize the importance of exercises to their body, they never put themselves to it. If the students take exercise only when forced by rules, it will be difficult to guarantee their continuous health, and let alone about the integrated development of mortal, intellectual, physical, aesthetics and labor. Therefore, in order to promote the degree of participation of physical exercise, we should not only using the economic imputing, policy setting and other external methods, but also pay more attention on the promotion of students’ enthusiasm and develop their autonomy in taking exercises. Intentional self-regulation initiative emphasis on the role of individual development, it is an advanced form of self-regulation. It is important in enhancing students physical exercise.Based on this, this study selected the first indicator related to college students’ mental health--self-esteem. Using literature data, questionnaire and mathematical statistics and other research methods, and making one of the Teenagers Autonomous Fitness Behavior Scale--the Strategies of Self-regulation SOC scale, Physical Activity Rating Scale PARS-3 and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale’s Chinese version as measurements. This study selected 1029 students of ten universities in Shandong Provence as the study’s objects and research the basic status of physical exercise of college students, to find out the differences on intentionality of self-regulation, physical activity, and self-esteem in demographic variables, to explore the intentionality of self-regulation, physical exercise and self-esteem, draw the following preliminary conclusions:1. The intensity of college students participating in physical exercise intensity is between mild and high intensity but not lasting. The time usually lasts for 20 minutes, the frequency is between 1-2 times and 3-5 times a week, the capacity of exercise based on small activities. The statue of college students’ physical exercise is not in a good viewpoint.2. College students’ physical exercise, intentional self-regulation affected by major, gender and grade; college students’ self-esteem is not affected by major, gender and grade.3. Intentional self-regulation, physical exercise and self-esteem three saw the pair-wise correlations significantly. The total score of intentional self-regulation and it’s four dimensionalities have a correlation with physical exercise. The total score of intentional self-regulation, select stability target, compensate/cope with loss and optimize energy means also have significant correlation with self-esteem. The correlation between optimize material means and self-esteem is not significant. Physical exercise is significantly associated with self-esteem. There is a close relationship between Intentional self-regulation, physical exercise and self-esteem.4. The total score of intentional self-regulation, physical exercise significantly negatively predicted self-esteem. Physical exercise partially mediated the relationship between intentional self-regulation and self-esteem. Intentional self-regulation can directly improves students’ self-esteem and also promotes students’ physical exercise to improve the level of self-esteem.5. Select stability target, compensate/cope with loss and optimize energy means can predict self-esteem significantly. Physical exercise has partially mediation effects between select stability target, compensate/cope with loss, optimize energy means and self-esteem..According to the above research results, this study proposes that college students should set up the correct sports values and the sense of ―Lifelong Sports‖. Reasonably selecting and using Intentional self-regulation strategy and change physical exercise to a high degree of automation behavior and build a habit of attending physical exercises consciously. |
