As an art teacher in junior high school for more than a decade, the author constantly explores and rethinks confusion and problems which the author meets with in teaching practice. In the learning area of “Modeling · Performance” in the art of junior high school, the application of comprehensive materials is one of the problems. According to the author’s research, there are many problems in the application of comprehensive materials in the art of junior high school. In accordance with requirements of new curriculum standard in the stage of compulsory education, exploring and testing various kinds of art media materials, skills and manufacturing process can develop students’ artistic perception ability and modeling performance ability. [1]What aspects does the significance of the application of comprehensive materials in the art teaching of junior high school embody in? Why can develop students’ artistic perception ability and modeling performance ability? And how to explore materials characteristics to explore their application strategiesin the learning area of “Modeling · Performance”?In the current teaching methods, theme-based teaching is recognized one of the effective methods. How to set the theme; how students to collect and select materials in accordance with the theme; how to flexibly apply and show materials in accordance with the theme; how to use materials to mould shapes and how to evaluate artworks for different levels of students. At the same time, as an art teacher, how to guide students to know, collect, select even apply materials to create works of art that express middle school students’ characteristics of personality, which are problem that are in urgent need of being faced and solved. And these are key points of the research. This thesis explores the application of art comprehensive materials in the area of “Modeling · Performance” in the fifth secondary school of Danzhou where the author works combined with teaching practice. This thesis analyzes connotation, significance and current situation of application of comprehensive materialsinthe learning area of “Modeling · Performance” in art of junior high school mainly from the perspectives of pedagogy, psychology and fine arts, and on this basis, explores the significance for students and application strategies of comprehensive materials in depth combined with the learning area of “Modeling · Performance”.Concretely speaking, this thesis divides into four parts. The first part is introduction, which firstly defines related concepts, defines theoretical basis of related research, systematically analyzes the current situation of domestic and foreign research and analyzes origin, significance and research methods of subject research in depth. The second part is the significance of exploring comprehensive materials in the learning area of “Modeling · Performance” in the art of junior high school for students, which explains mainly from the following points: comprehensive materials make students’ visions wider and thoughts more flexible; embody students’ subject consciousness and personality in the process of selecting materials; the utilization of comprehensive materials is more able to embody students’ comprehensive ability; making comprehensive materials can help students to embody team spirit and so on. The third part is the application strategies in the learning area of “Modeling · Performance” in the art of junior high school, which is the key point of this thesis. The author explores effective strategies of the application of comprehensive materials in the learning area of “Modeling · Performance”, which are mainly represented in the following aspects: the first aspect is collecting and selecting materials in accordance with the theme(Set the theme to collect materials and selecting materials in accordance with circumstances. Set the theme in accordance with textbooks and collect and select materials focused on the theme to guarantee the purposiveness of collecting and selecting materials. Based on local features collect materials in accordance with circumstances and take full advantage of local resources); The second aspect is flexibly applying and showing materials in accordance with the theme(combined reserving the primitive form with breaking the primitive form, and combined finished materials with new materials and so on. Thereinto, especially pay more attention to the circumstance that students may collect and select materials for the second or the third time because they are short of material or select inappropriate materials at the first time in the process of applying materials, which is more able to embody students’ autonomy and the direct perception for material characteristics), moulding shapes from the easier to the more advanced(this strategy bases on students’ development characteristics. Students who have the weak foundation commence from the simple geometrical forms, and students who have medium foundation commence from imitating works and students who have good foundation could mould new shapes combined with various shapes) and evaluating from multiple subjects and multiple dimensions(diversity of subject’s evaluation contents, commenting works hierarchically and paying more attention to comprehensiveness and integrality when evaluating from multiple dimensions). The fourth part is using the application strategies of comprehensive materials in the learning area of “Modeling · Performance” in the art of junior high school to make the specific implementation of teaching combined with practical teaching to verify the effectiveness of above strategies and rethink the problems of above strategies. And explore more reasonable teaching strategies and more idealized teaching practice consequently.
