Physical concept is the reflection of essential attributes of objective things in people’s mind and it is also the abstract results of physical things. The main research content of Physics centers on the structure and movement rule of physical materials, and the rule is represented by the conceptual connections. The core objectives of Physics Concept Teaching are to provide guidance for students to understand, to acquire and to use the physical concepts and rules, and in this process their cognitive ability will be improved at the same time. Therefore, learning physical concepts will become the basis of learning Physics.Based on theories of Cognition, Constructivism, Epistemology of Development, and Scientific Cognitive Methodology, the thesis aims to make a summary and reflection over the problems existing in the Physics Concept Teaching, and some suggestions have also made in it. Firstly, the definition of physical concept is made, and then a lot of examples have been analyzed to illustrate that the physical concept is the product of scientific practice and abstract thinking. Then the characteristics of physical concept are demonstrated further, and the elements of Physics Concept Teaching have been analyzed from the following three aspects of teacher, textbook and student, which lay the foundation for putting forward strategies of effective concept teaching. Physics Concept Teaching is an interacting process of teachers, students, teaching materials and teaching environment interact process, which should follow certain principles and methods of teaching. The complexity of Physics Concept Teaching process determines the teachers’ proper understanding and instruction of knowledge structure, methods structure and ability structure of the conceptual teaching materials. When designing the teaching plan, the teacher should help the students to construct meanings, let the students further understand the connotation of the concept, have a clear mind of the extension of concept, find out the differences and the relation between the concepts, to reveal the internal contradictions of physical concepts and to get the nature of physical concepts. Teachers should encourage students to use concept map and other forms to conclude relevant concepts they have learned, so as to make students grasp firmly the concepts. Therefore, the teachers should make well preparation for the introduction, formation and consolidation of the concepts. By doing so, teachers could consciously cultivate students to learn knowledge and to grasp the basic thinking methods of forming concepts to improve their abilities of thinking. Apart from teaching physics concepts effectively, the teachers should study the teaching syllabus carefully, study the teaching materials and study the actual situation of the students, to form a system of the teaching contents and concepts. Moreover, Heterogeneous activities should be conducted to refine the teaching design and enrich teaching activities to play the teachers’leading role and the students’ main body status.Conclusions of the research on the optimization of physics concept teaching are as follows:1. The analysis of physics concepts in middle school and the study on the strategies of Physics Concept Teaching can help the teachers to teach in an orderly way, to refine the teaching design and to improve the effectiveness of classroom teaching.2.Reasonable teaching strategies used by the teachers can not only help students to establish an effective knowledge network scheme, to enhance their understandings of the perceptual materials to improve the students’enthusiasm of physics learning, but also to cultivate the students’ scientific thinking methods.3. The teaching of physics concepts is a gradual penetrating process, in which the students can learn from each other and promote each other through autonomous, cooperative and inquiring, to foster the students’ autonomous learning ability and cooperative spirit and help the students to learn effectively.
