Student management is a complicated and special management activity. Education quality and talent cultivation make demands on the student management, which ought to be proper, based on the characteristics of students’ mental and physical development and in line with the requirements of educational management. Primary education is an important phrase of compulsory education and it is also a critical period for knowledge, habit, character and ability building and cultivation, which constitute the basis for further education and future life. Nevertheless, primary students are very young and they are still in the process of cognitive cultivation, which pose great obstacles for student management. As to the current primary school management practice, influenced by traditional management perspectives like "buckets effect", teachers tend to view themselves as "problem solvers". Consequently, the focus of student management is placed on problem finding and analyzing instead of strength cultivation and potential motivation.In view of this, based on appreciative theory, with "dream, design and action" as its core conception and field research in Nanjing F primary school, this paper tries to explore proper ways to better the student management in F primary schoolThis paper can be divided into six chapters based on the logic of "theory-practice-thinking". The first chapter is introduction. The second chapter introduces the connotation of appreciative inquiry theory and its application in education and explores preliminary application of appreciative inquiry theory in F primary school. The third chapter generalizes the current situation of student management in F primary school from the aspects of concept selection, system building, activity implement and team building and based on appreciative inquiry theory. The fourth chapter analyzes the problems hidden in appreciative inquiry oriented student management in F primary school. The fifth chapter makes some suggestions for better the student management in F primary school. The last chapter makes a summary about the appreciative inquiry’s enlightenment for primary school student management in china.
