Dulong is one of the several less populous ethnic minorities of China, whose present total population is 6930 and most of whom live in the Dulong River Gorge embraced by both High Li Gongshan and Dandanglika mountain. The Dulong ethnic individual development and cultural heritage depend on family education and clan commune education. Since the foundation of China, Dulong has developed from primitive society into socialist society. Since over 60 years ago, Dulong’s education has had a significant improvement in quantity and quality. However, between traditional culture common sense and the modernity, there is a sharp conflict which has brought Dulong modern education into an embarrassing dilemma. This paper explores how the traditionally culturally common senses have led to the dilemma. The paper contains the followings:This paper uses text analysis physical collection and interview.Chapter One introduces the geographical and social environment of Dulong and its original education.Chapter Two summarizes the changes of education progress in different time. From the the early time of Qing Dynasty education to the modern and present education and the modernistic problem in educational change.This problem promote the development of Dulong’s education,meanwhile,it hindered the progress of education.Chapter Three analyzes the cultural factors affected their educational change.The factors includes group psychological, technology,religious,family structure and population flow.Faced with the modernistic contradiction,the school workers should have the perspective of the culture,handle its special psychology,respect its customs and make good use of its cultural heritage.To make the Dulong’s students more adapt to the modern school life.
