With the constant innovation of the junior middle school history teaching consciousness and teaching methods present, the history textbook is also in constant change. The pursuit of the vision and the impact on the knowledge, and flexible arrangement with the large font size and the small font size make teaching and learning more elastic. The large font size is concise with eye-catching print while the small font size are rich and lively in content, with different backgrounds, characters, stories. The large font size characters are effective in achieving the function as a teaching-aid. The small font size words, at the same time, make the teaching procedure more vivid and interesting and emphasize the interest and variety of teaching. However, how to effectively use the small font size words to carry on the teaching, which is not dilute the theme, and flooded the living history, is a very worth exploring problem.Based on this, this paper first introduces the research background, the significance and the present research. Secondly, analyze the present situation of the teaching of junior high school history textbook. It does exist in the current junior high school history textbooks that the small font size word teaching is not clear and less attention is paid on it, ignoring teachers’consciousness, the use of exam oriented education and other issues.
